Communications Officer (Writer/Designer)

Department: Communications & Media Centre (CMC)

Reports to: Communications Coordinator/Manager

Overall Responsibilities:
Execute the communications strategy (work plan) through the (writing/design work) to help build the Bible Society’s brand, promote the Bible mission and communicate the various Centre’s publicity and the fund raising needs, across all platforms. Support communication needs of the region as directed.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  1. Produce Copy-writing/Design work across all relevant media platforms
  2. Work closely and in collaboration with the BSS team/departments and constituents to develop publicity/fund-raising/corporate communication material
  3. Execute the overall brand strategy and promote the Bible mission
  4. Use new media where applicable and as directed
  5. Work with or produce translation work for in-house projects wherever necessary
  6. Research and build-up collection of case-studies / stories / testimonies / photos/templates
  7. Support the production and administrative work required for all CMC projects
  8. Collaborate with and support the wider United Bible Societies (UBS) fellowship and its communication needs as directed by BSS management

Requirements:

  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in copy writing/design work and advantage
  • Diploma or Degree holder (preferably in the relevant area)
  • Self-starter with a good eye for detail and strong ability to multi-task
  • A team-worker
  • Organised and possess analytical skills
  • Writer - excellent Microsoft office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) preferred.
  • Working knowledge of other design or editing software an advantage
  • Designer – excellent Adobe Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop skills preferred. Ability to illustrate an advantage
  • Bi-lingual an advantage

  5. Evaluate and coordinate the use new media where applicable
  6. Coordinate the work of or produce translation work for in-house projects wherever necessary
  7. Coordinate the research and collection of case-studies / stories / testimonies / photos/templates
  8. Coordinate the production and administrative support work required for all CMC projects
  9. Collaborate with and support the wider United Bible Societies (UBS) fellowship and its communication needs as directed by BSS management

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in Communication work and advantage
