Mel Gibson’s
movie, “The Passion of the Christ” has finally made it to
the silver screens in Singapore, amidst much media hype. The
movie aims to be a dramatic retelling of the last 12 hours
of Jesus’ life, realistically creating scenes of the
crucifixion two thousand years ago.
The Bible
Society of Singapore is producing a portion based on the
Gospel of Luke (Today's English Version), in conjunction with
the movie, "The Passion of the Christ". Pictures from the
movie have been featured on the cover of the portion. This
movie has generated a tremendous amount of interest in
Singapore among Christians and Non-Christians alike,
presenting the Christian community with a unique opportunity
to tell the story of Jesus' life and death to the cinema going
public. It would also be a chance to channel many a
Christian's focus on the timeless Gospel story, as scenes from
the movie are recollected.
It is our intent that this Gospel portion of Luke be read by
the many who will inevitably catch the movie, and that God's
Word would inspire in tandem with imagery from the movie,
making an impact on readers. We have packaged the portion for
this purpose and would be making it available to individuals,
churches, and Christian organisations, with the details as
